About Neighbourhood Mail™ formerly Unaddressed Admail™

Canada Post Neighbourhood Mail delivery standards

See estimated delivery times for your unaddressed marketing mail

Delivery standards are estimates of the number of days* it will take for your items to be delivered once they are brought to a post office or mail processing plant.

Delivery standards are comprised of two components, transportation time and delivery cycle, which added together determine the delivery standard.

The Canada Post Neighbourhood Mail™ service delivery standards vary depending on your items’ size, weight, origin, destination and mailing options such as transportation.

If you bring your mailing to the processing location responsible for local delivery, your delivery standards are as follows.

Category Thickness Weight Delivery Cycle*
Standard and Oversize up to 0.75 in. (1.91 cm) up to 200 g (7.05 oz.) up to 3 business days
up to 1 in. (2.54 cm) up to 300 g (10.58 oz.) up to 4 business days
up to 500 g (17.64 oz.) up to 9 business days

* For non-letter carrier routes, the delivery cycle, in business days, is 1 day for items up to 500 g (17.64 oz.) and 3 to 5 days for items up to 1,000 g (35.3 oz.) with a maximum thickness of 1.5 in. (3.81 cm).

What You Need To Know About Neighbourhood Mail

Travelling at the lowest postage rates of all Canada Post products, Neighbourhood Mail (formerly known as Unaddressed Admail) pieces are bundled securely before moving smoothly through the postal system. The Neighbourhood Mail (formerly known as Unaddressed Admail) stream is a rewarding yet cost-effective strategy for coupons, postcards, brochures, menus, flyers, catalogues, sample mailings, co-op mailings, and more.

Neighbourhood Mail (formerly known as Unaddressed Admail) is a most valuable direct mail solution for broad acquisitions and brand recognition. This mailing service targets specific letter carrier walks that match closely with your intended audiences and customer profiles. Canada Post’s professional data services like Precision Targeter will map out certain geographies and assess their value towards your target. You have the final say on what letter carrier routes make the cut, depending on their profiles and proximity.

Neighbourhood Mail (formerly known as Unaddressed Admail) planning also differentiates between Houses, Apartments/Condos, Farms and Businesses. You can specify which of these audiences you would like to mail towards since each direct mailing should be as focused as possible. For example, an HVAC contractor may want to target only houses with families within a 10km radius. For many other types of direct mailings, however, reaching out to most or all of these audiences can also prove successful. Some available mail targeting demographics to consider include:

  • Age
  • Household size
  • Building Occupancy
  • Building Type
  • Building Construction Period
  • Education
  • Household Income
  • Immigrants Place of Birth
  • Occupation Field
  • Marital Status
  • Family Structure
  • Children at Home – Age
